 Irisan derived from the word " Idisan" which means wood used to grind to make it fine. Irisan is a thickly forested with pinestrees. Irisan Barangay is also connected to Tuba, Benguet.

Luna, Bugnay, Smith, Alvarez, Binay-an, Copra, Maganes, Osea, Catalon, Tacay, Ingosan and other families who settled first in Irisan Barangay. At those times, Virginia Luna, a native from Barlig is married to Lopez Oseo. Unfortunately, their relationship
                                                         didn't last long.

After their separation, Virginia Lopez is married again to Felix Luna having nine (9) Children, one (1) adopted child and one (1) another step sister. Virginia Luna as one of the first settler in Irisan become the second punong barangay. Due to its great performance in communication, Virginia Luna become as the spoke person of Ibalois who can speak in Ibaloi language (Kankana-ey).She is also a market vendor.


Additional information, Houses, generally scattered in fields or on hillside, are raised about two meters on posts and covered with a pyramidal thatched roof. Subssistence is based on wet rice. There is marked differentiation between the rich and the ppor, with a considerable concentraion of power and influence in the hands of the former. The traditional Ibaloi cenmtered on ancestor worship.

Today, Irisan barangay has a mixed culture that is preserve and respected by other people. As we, discover the history of our own place, I will leave you with this quote:
